The Kamasutra views scratching during sex as an art and
visible scratch marks are a souvenir of the sexual encounter. As was the
way of the Kamasutra rules about where and when scratching should take
place were plentiful.
The knife; lightly tease the lips, cheeks and
breasts with the thumb nail, then press the thumb nail in with the
fingers adding pressure to create the scratch.
Half Moon; a semi-circular scratch, usually on
the neck or breasts.
Circle; half moon's created side by side to form
the circle on the stomach, crotch, backside or thighs.
Line; short, straight scratches on any part of
the body.
Tiger's Claw; a curving scratch on the face or
breasts
Peacock's Claw; deep scratches made by all five
nails around the nipples.
Hare's Jump; marks made by pulling hard on the
nipple with all five nails.
Lotus Leaf; lotus leaf shaped scratches on
the buttock or breasts.
In scratching your lover only the nails of the left hand
should be used and you may file them to a point for deeper cutting if
desired! Men must not however scratch another man's wife during sex. As
a general rule of thumb women should only be scratched in erogenous
zones.
